OdinCam

Home and pet camera for Mac, iPhone and iPad

Just check on them.

OdinCam turns the Mac and webcams you already have, or a spare iPhone, into a private camera for your home and pets. When something happens, your phone shows you a picture and tells you what it was.

Only your devices can see your cameras. Here's how →
OdinCam on iPhone: the Front Door Mac camera is monitoring, with buttons for Live View and Record Now, and recent events: dog barking, cat, person, motion and sound.

For the moments you wonder about

You can't be home all day. OdinCam keeps watch, and the moment something happens it tells you what, with a picture. No more wondering.

  • Is the dog all right?

See whether Rex is asleep on the sofa or barking at the door. Alerts name your own pets, so you know which one it was.

  • Did the package come?

Get a picture the moment someone walks up to the door, and watch the clip when you have a minute.

  • Are the kids home?

Know they walked in after school, open Live View to see them, and hold to talk to say hello through the camera.

What OdinCam does especially well

Built for checking on home and pets, and for keeping what your cameras see to yourself.

Use the Mac and cameras you already have

No new hardware to buy. A Mac you leave at home becomes the camera.

  • Its built-in camera, a USB webcam, or a capture stick for an HDMI camera.
  • One Mac can run several cameras at once, and tells you how many it can handle comfortably.
  • Each camera shows up on your iPhone as its own camera, with its own clips and alerts.
OdinCam settings on the Mac: three cameras on this Mac, two watching, with how much of the Mac each one uses, and a note that this Mac runs six cameras comfortably.

Tells people from pets, and knows your pets by name

An alert that says "Rex barking" is worth more than "motion detected".

  • Every alert says whether it was a person, a dog or a cat, and shows where in the picture.
  • Name your dog or cat from a few photos, and alerts say "Rex" instead of "a dog".
  • Record only when a person, dog or cat moves, so curtains and shadows don't fill your phone.
  • Answer "Not a person" or "It was the dog", and the camera learns from its own view.
A camera picture with labelled boxes: a person, a dog named Rex and a cat.
OdinCam asks: Is this Rex? With answers: Yes, it's Rex; No, it's Bo; Someone new; Not one of ours; There's no dog here.

A spare iPhone or iPad becomes a camera

That old phone in a drawer can watch the back door or the dog's bed.

  • Put it on a shelf with OdinCam open, and it watches, records and alerts just like a Mac.
  • On models that support it, it can use its front and back cameras at once.
  • Your other phones are told if it's unplugged or its battery runs low.

Talk through the camera

Calm a barking dog, or let someone know they're on camera.

  • Hold to talk in Live View, and your voice plays from the camera's speaker.
  • Spoken warnings: at the times you choose, a camera can speak when it sees someone, in your own recorded voice or words you type.
  • Your voice is encrypted on the way, like everything else.

Only your devices can see it

Pictures, clips and Live View are locked on the camera so only the iPhones, iPads and Macs in your household can open them. The server that carries them can't, and neither can we.

  • The smart parts still work: telling people from pets happens on the camera itself, before anything is locked.
  • A new device joins only when you confirm that matching codes appear on both screens.
  • No ads, no tracking, and no account with your name or email address.

Everything we do to keep it private →

Your video stays at home

Your recordings aren't kept in someone else's cloud.

  • Clips are saved on your Mac, in the folder you choose, or on the iPhone or iPad you use as a camera.
  • Watching from elsewhere, a clip streams through our server locked, and is never kept there.
  • On the same Wi-Fi, clips and Live View come straight from your Mac.
  • OdinCam clears out old recordings for you, by age or by space used.
OdinCam on the Mac: Stop Monitoring, a weeknight schedule from 10 PM to 6 AM, and the motion meter showing some movement.

On when you're out, off when you're home

Nobody wants alerts about themselves making breakfast.

  • Home & away starts monitoring when everyone's phone has left home, and stops it when someone comes back.
  • Or set schedules, like weeknights from 10 PM to 6 AM.
  • Your location never leaves your phone: it sends only "home" or "away", encrypted.

Up and running in minutes

  1. Set up the Mac

Open OdinCam, pick a camera, and draw around the part of the picture you care about.

  2. Add your iPhone

Pair it with a short code from the Mac, then confirm the matching codes on both screens.

  3. Just check on them

Get alerts with a picture, play the clip, scrub back through the day, or open Live View.
